New Orleans, Louisiana, van gisteravond
(met dank aan BobLinks). Ik moet bij deze plaatsnaam denken aan de
band-introductie, die Dylan hield tijdens het concert van 28 oktober
2005. De orkaan Katrina had net haar verwoestende werk verricht in
vooral New Orleans. Dylan vertelde dat drummer George Recelli en
bassist Tony Garnier beiden uit New Orleans kwamen.
De afgelopen
dagen staat Baltimore in de belangstelling vanwege rellen. Raciale
rellen, misschien. Ik weet niet hoe je het moet noemen. Dylan trad er
11 april nog op. En hij bezong deze stad in Tryin' To Get To Heaven:
“I was riding in a buggy with Miss Mary-Jane / Miss Mary-Jane got a
house in Baltimore / I been all around the world, boys / Now I'm
tryin' to get to heaven before they close the door.”
Misschien is
er geen enkele overeenkomst tussen het lied, het optreden en de
rellen.
