Ik heb twee Sly's door elkaar gehaald. Ik meende dat de onlangs overleden Sly Stone met Dylan heeft samengewerkt. Dat Stone te horen is op Infidels uit 1983. Maar dat is een andere Sly, namelijk Sly Dunbar. Samen met Robbie Shakespeare vormde hij een Jamaicaans ritme-duo.
Dylan-biograaf Howard Sounes schrijft in zijn geüpdatete levensbeschrijving: "'Jokerman' was a collage of images reminiscent of Blonde on Blonde and, together with 'I and I,' had a subtle reggae feel. 'We can slip it in so quietly that you wouldn't realise that's what we're doing,' says Sly Dunbar, who was impressed by how easy it was to work with Bob. 'He would just come into the studio with his 'armonica and guitar, and he start to play the song, and we just fall into the groove. He would take different takes of a song in different keys and he would change words on the fly.' The song 'Jokerman' was finished before Dunbar realized they were recording.
